I SLEPT OUT – Vinnies CEO Sleepout

Last Thursday night, myself and over 1000 other Australian business leaders took part in the 9th annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Vinnies CEO Sleepout encourages business leaders to raise awareness about homelessness and poverty in Australia by experiencing a night out in the cold.

I rugged up and bedded down with nothing more than a sheet of cardboard and a sleeping bag for warmth. While the experience only gave me a glimpse of what it is like to be homeless, it certainly was an eye opener. Over 105,000 people have nowhere to call home any day of the year. I learned that these people are not “the homeless” – they are just like you and me – mums, dads and even small children. I had to do something about it and I hope you will too.

I want to thank everyone who supported me in this fantastic cause. That night I not only had the opportunity to help fund the work of a great organisation, but learnt a lot about the many services that St Vincent de Paul Society provides to help people in the community.

Thanks again for all the messages of support and your kind donations. I’ll be back next year at Vinnies CEO Sleepout to help this fantastic cause.
