Meet Us

Cincom has one of the highest employee retention rates of any corporation today. In fact, a full 25% of our employees have worked here longer than 15 years!

So, what keeps them around? Well, to find out, we asked a few Cincomers to give us their top three reasons why they return to the office day after day. While the answers may not surprise you, it's a good reminder that going to work can actually be fun!

Joy Warden, Trade Show and Event Manager — Cincomer since 1984
"I can only give you three reasons??"

  1. Well, the top reason for sticking with Cincom is the opportunities that I have been given at Cincom. I have had lots of different jobs at Cincom. I started in the Technical Library and have done many different things over the years ... from customer visits, consultant's programs, PR, company events, conference planning, print buying, project management, business management ... the list goes on and on.
  2. And I have traveled the globe; from Seattle to Prague and everywhere in between.
  3. I've only had three managers during that 20 years and all three still work at Cincom: Ron Weeks, Ron Hank and Bill Jones. So perhaps their Cincom attitude and Cincom longevity have rubbed off on me. To me, Cincom is my "other" family.

Carla McQueen, Lead Marketing Communications Specialist — Cincomer since 1981
"I can still see the influence of many former Cincomers on the company. Because of this, I know that whatever happens, a part of me will always remain here. I will always be a Cincomer."

  1. A caring attitude company-wide. So much makes up this "caring attitude" and it permeates throughout the company - a general optimism about the future, ethical integrity, spirituality - it all exists here in a unique mix that is Cincom.
  2. Flexibility in work scheduling. Again, this "policy" stems from the caring attitude described above. Here, you are permitted and encouraged to have a personal life, which makes for better - and certainly happier - employees.
  3. The expectation of (and encouragement for) personal growth - from training and tuition reimbursement, to stretching in the job performed - and even to the "opportunity to fail" without being penalized.

Ken Cremers, Manager, Support Services — Cincomer since 1973
After all these years, I still enjoy coming to work. Too many people I know could not wait to retire from their company. I don't think there is another company that I could work for that would make me feel as happy as I do about coming to work.

  1. Challenging. With the constantly changing world of software, the challenges just keep on coming. I challenge myself to learn something new every day, and at Cincom I have had that opportunity. In all my years here, there has not been a year that has been the same as any other.
  2. People. Cincom is like a family. I enjoy working with everyone around me. Since the people are like family, how can I leave them?
  3. Independence and Flexibility. With my role at Cincom, I have always been able to work like an entrepreneur. That is, I have been allowed to be creative in making improvements in processes, software, and other activities without constant monitoring by management. They expect results and as long as I provide results, they are very flexible in letting me work the hours that are best suited to me. Cincom allows this flexibility because they are interested in getting the job done, not monitoring when you come to work and when you leave.

Ron Hank, Director, Global Business Development — Cincomer since 1975
"You are never penalized for trying new ideas to improve the business"

  1. The opportunity to have ongoing challenging assignments and a feeling that your contribution is recognized and important no matter what level you are within the organization. I have been at many levels during my career and know that this is true throughout the company.
  2. A belief that you are told the truth (good or bad) and are treated fairly and with respect. This applies whether we're talking about Cincom clients or Cincomers themselves.
  3. The opportunity to take a new idea and try it to improve the business without the fear that you will be let go if unsuccessful. The important thing is that you are taking an active role and attempting to better the company. You are never penalized for trying.

Greg Marshall, Lead Software Engineer — Cincomer since 1980
"The feeling of teamwork is very strong at Cincom."

  1. Teamwork - Being part of an aggressive, talented team and working together to be successful is very rewarding. Teamwork at Cincom goes beyond our four walls - it includes Cincom offices worldwide, partners, and customers. We have developed some very strong teams with innovative customers and partners that have been very productive for all.
  2. Challenge and Responsibility - The company environment is one where you always have the opportunity to take on new challenges and responsibilities that test and strengthen your skills requiring you to keep up with today's changes in technology and business solutions to continue being a contributor on the team.
  3. Care for employees - The company has always emphasized an open and honest work environment with an emphasis on open communications, long-term employment and long-term customer relationships which I have found to be quite rewarding and somewhat unique with

Dennis Creech, Director, US Professional Services — Cincomer since 1997
"I left for two years between 1999 and 2001; when I came back, it was like coming home."

  1. Cincom's "Whatever It Takes" attitude differentiates us in the market when it comes to serving our customers and helping them be successful.
  2. The ability and willingness of the company to adapt and change to meet market opportunities has resulted in loyal long-standing relationships with customers, partners and employees.
  3. Cincom encourages those who seek it, to stretch beyond their current comfort zone and capabilities into new areas of responsibility and opportunities for growth.

Dave Decker, Account Executive — Cincomer since 2000
"This is not a command and control organization; that would reduce the creativity of the people who work here."

  1. Cincom grows through reinventing itself as the need arises. This is not a programmatic company.
  2. The people I work with are best in class. The tempo of the business is constant and pulsing.
  3. The culture is entrepreneurial and symbiotic. The long-term view of business sustainability is important here. There is opportunity and top management is approachable and interested in new ideas.

Jim Gross, Lead Editor — Cincomer since 1977
"Thirty years ago, the company actually seemed much the same as it does now, only on a smaller scale. Many things have remained constant. There's still a feeling of ‘family’ here that I find somewhat rare."

  1. I've been fortunate to work with some of the finest people I can imagine.
  2. I appreciate the opportunity to explore new areas and grow in my career with the same company.
  3. There's a real ‘teamwork attitude’ here that makes all the difference when the alarm clock goes off in the morning.

Michael Fraser, Pre-sales Consultant — Cincomer since 1998
"I have been working in the Cincom Melbourne Office for over ten years. During that time, I have come to realize the values and experience that Cincom has as a company are indeed rare in this day and age."

  1. The people are fantastic to work with. Cincom is a real family environment. I enjoy working with all people at Cincom.
  2. It is always exciting working with Cincom's products. Their uniqueness, state of the engineering, and leading edge technology makes them stand apart. It is good working with products you have great confidence in.
  3. The environment is one of "no barriers." The diversity of experience I have acquired working with Cincom is a very rewarding feeling indeed.
