Cincom Smalltalk™ comprises two environments: VisualWorks and ObjectStudio. Because Cincom places a high priority on its customers' investment, we have adopted a policy ensuring that clients can easily use either environment in the future and that more features are made available for both. This gradual and ongoing process significantly benefits users of both environments.

Cincom has developed specific licensing models for corporate usage Value Added Resellers (VAR) and System Integrators (SI) to better serve the business needs of our clients. Cincom provides all of the technology within Cincom Smalltalk to our clients for one price. Prospective clients are able to evaluate our software prior to purchasing the product and can gradually invest in the product as they experience success with the technology. VARs and SIs only pay for the software as they succeed in their markets.
Also, Cincom supports and nurtures a vibrant and committed community. Our non-commercial product fosters a large and diverse community of users. Within our Academic Program, we make it easier for universities and educational institutions to teach Smalltalk. We also promote "Smalltalk Solutions", the main Smalltalk user conference of the year and participate in open source efforts with two of our components.
