Answering customer questions, spotting sales trends, or performing analytical research is much easier when you have a common data-mining user interface for developing powerful queries. Centraspect's Content Server's robust data mining capabilities allow users to mine target information from all content types across the entire enterprise regardless of where it's located today. This indexing technology is broken down into four functional components:
Universal Indexing
The Universal Index provides a metadata repository built on a relational database platform and is capable of linking any number of repositories through managed components using many forms of technology APIs. Queries may be issued across repositories and consolidated results are returned to the user. This approach, with its common dashboard for both new and legacy data, dramatically reduces the time, effort, cost of conversion and consolidation, as well as an improved user familiarity and acceptance.
Local Indexing
A Local Index is very much like a table of contents. It points to all of the important segments contained within a single document. It gives you the ability to not only select and segment critical information within a document, but to further drill down into that document, applying index upon index to deliver just the piece of information of interest.
Global Indexing
Centraspect can further expand the use of those indices through its Content Server's Global Indexing. The Global Indexing capability enables any number of index variables to be tracked across documents and versions. Additionally, users can narrow the scope of a search to a particular date range, which enhances performance and usability. Once in the desired document version, users can dynamically "drill down" through the document to deliver only the lines or pages of interest to them.
Full Text Indexing
While the Global Index is geared toward the application-generated content, Full Text Index is geared toward desktop-generated content. This content, which by its nature is much more chaotic than application-generated content, tends to not lend itself to pre-organization. Much like Global Index, Full Text Index searches across all enterprise content but differs by delivering web search-like results.
