The principles of streamlined business processes and effective resource utilization are helping to shape the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for the future. Rather than more data, the goal is better information for better decisions, and ODOT plans to invest significantly in technology to achieve this end.

Prior to evolving to a SUPRA Server SQL integrated enterprise database, ODOT’s environment consisted of functional systems that provided only limited interaction among components. The seamless integration of ODOT’s non-SQL and SQL applications, which was up and running in approximately two months, brought dramatic improvement in all management reporting. As a result, the time frame for generating contractor payments was cut by more than half.
